Abiy is the CFO and Treasurer for Lawyers’ Mutual Insurance Company based in Burbank, CA. Established in 1979, Lawyers’ Mutual insures, educates and advances the interests of California lawyers. Prior to his role at Lawyers’ Mutual, Abiy worked at a regional Certified Public Accounting firm providing audit and consulting services to insurance companies and nonprofit organizations, including BTAC. Abiy began his career in the tax, audit, and consulting practices of McGladrey (now RSM), serving a wide variety industries including financial institutions, construction, and manufacturing companies. Abiy holds bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Computer Information Systems from California State University, Los Angeles. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and is an active member of the American Institute of CPAs and the California Society of CPAs. Abiy has lived in and around Pasadena since 2001 and currently resides in Highland Park. Abiy’s personal interests include soccer, running, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
